“What Were You Wearing?”
In fashion, this question celebrates identity, creativity, and influence. For survivors of sexual assault, it’s used to blame them for the violence that happened to them. In one context this question is empowering, on the other, it takes away survivors’ agency. On September 11th, 2025, survivors and allies will step out on the world stage to take back their power as part of the fifth annual NYFW Rise Survivor Fashion Show. The 2025 show will spotlight survivors’ rights and celebrate all who advocate for survivors worldwide. Together, we can reclaim this sentence — and our power.
